USPOULTRY Offers Machine Guarding Training Program
U.S. Poultry & Egg Association's Poultry & Egg Institute announces the release of a new training program, “Machine Guarding.” The PowerPoint-based program is a training aid in protecting workers against the hazards of moving machine parts. The program outlines many of the mechanical hazards presented by machines common throughout the poultry and egg industry and describes ways to ensure that effective guards are in place to reduce the frequency of injuries. "OSHA Listens" Webcast on March 4th
OSHA has rescheduled the “OSHA Listens” public meeting for March 4. The meeting’s goal is to solicit comments and suggestions from OSHA stakeholders on key issues facing the agency. While attendance for the Washington DC event is full and registration is closed, a live Webcast of the meeting will be available from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. EST on March 4.

OSHA Proposes to Restore MSD Column on 300 Log
In a move sure to be viewed by some as a prelude to a new ergonomics rulemaking, OSHA has proposed adding a separate column on the OSHA 300 log for employers to record work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs).

Tyson Selected as a Top 50 Employer
Tyson Foods, Inc. as been selected as one of the nation’s “Top 50 Employers” by the readers of Equal Opportunity magazine. In the publication’s 17th annual survey Tyson ranked No. 30, and was the highest ranking meat company. According to the magazine, “the readers selected the top companies in the country for which they would most prefer to work or believe are progressive in hiring members of minority groups.”
