The Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act of 2009
On December 15, the Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act of 2009 (CIR ASAP) was introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives. OSHA’s Special Rules for Group Lockouts
Machine maintenance and repair operations performed by a group of employees are often more complex than similar operations performed by an individual. As a result, OSHA directives for group lockout or tagout operations require more coordination and communication than personal lockout or tagout operations. Employers must develop and implement a group energy control procedure that provides the same level of protection as a personal lockout or tagout device.

ASSE Safety Tips On How to Drive Safely During Bad Weather
According to the National Academy of Sciences, adverse weather conditions reduce roadway capacity, efficiency and safety. Each year, approximately 7,000 roadway deaths and 450,000 injuries are associated with poor weather-related driving conditions. Employers Wary of Changes at OSHA
OSHA released its new agenda last week, the same week David Michaels started on the job as the new assistant secretary of labor. One proposed item will require employers to report worker musculoskeletal disorders, known as MSDs, in their Form 300 injury log. Employers should be concerned that the increased MSD reporting could set the stage for mandatory workplace ergonomics standards.
