Plan to attend the Market Intelligence Forum on Friday January 29, 2010 during the International Poultry Expo in Room A-411 of the Georgia World Congress Center. Our nationally known panel of speakers, Dr. Paul Aho, Mike Donohue and Dr. Donald Ratajczak, will provide insights on the domestic and global economy. They will identify challenges facing the poultry industry and discuss how the U.S. and international poultry industries are positioned to move forward in 2010. Machine Guarding Program at IPE
On January 28, 2010 Paul Schlumper of Georgia Tech Research Institute and Ed Foulke, a partner with Fisher & Phillips LLP and a former Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA, will present a workshop on machine guarding and equipment safety. The workshop will focus on hazard identification, avoidance and control and on OSHA’s approach to enforcement. The workshop is geared for plant management, engineering, maintenance and safety personnel. It will be held in Room A-405 of the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta from 9-11 AM.

Cargill turkey hatchery receives OSHA safety honor
Cargill's Harrisonburg, Va. turkey hatchery has received the "Star" status as part of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's (OSHA) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP). The Star program is designed for worksites with exemplary health and safety programs that go beyond the minimum regulatory requirements established by OSHA.

EEOC Reports Job Bias Charges Approach Record High in Fiscal Year 2009
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced recently that 93,277 workplace discrimination charges, the second highest level ever, were filed during Fiscal Year (FY) 2009, and monetary relief totaled over $376 million. Private sector job bias charges alleging discrimination based on disability, religion and/or national origin hit record highs, while the number of charges alleging age-based discrimination reached the second-highest level ever.
